What’s it like to work with you?

“Dr. Catella is a great example of a psychologist who helps you help yourself. Her superpower is in her ability to truly listen and encourage transformation in a way that feels comforting, but is forward moving. I am an executive at a large global company and came to her with one challenge that turned out to be supplementary to the actual issue. She got to the heart of it in the first session. As to her process, I’d say she’s more of a gentle guide. As each session continued, I felt like she was systematically removing a blindfold. She does not come up with the answers, you do. She does give you homework after each session, which I diligently did. I mention this because in just two short months, our work was completed. Blindfold removed. I left her care with so many tools for my life. It was truly transformative for me, and I’m usually not one for hyperbole. If you are looking for results and willing to put in the work, I’d recommend her highly.” -DM

“Steph has an ideal balance of sincere compassion, disciplined intellect and deep commitment to her work. In my sessions with Steph, I have always felt she was fully present, and fully in my corner. Steph listened with keen interest, and responded with important insights I couldn't see for myself. Steph joyfully pointed out my progress, patiently guided me through my difficult sticking points. Steph has an unmistakable passion for her work. I recommend her highly.” -BL

“Dr. Catella is a highly respected expert in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and, even more importantly, an incredibly compassionate therapist and coach. During the course of a year, I worked with Stephanie to address long-standing anxiety issues (i.e., hypochondria) and work through a stressful break-up and career transition. She patiently introduced me to practical and actionable approaches for confronting my anxieties, and each week I left not only feeling better, but also ready to tackle whatever life threw at me. I've worked with several therapists throughout my life, but none who brought as much insight and rigor to each interaction. I don't say this lightly--thanks to Stephanie, I have the tools, perspective, and gratitude to let my darkest worries float away.” -NB

“I saw Dr. Catella for over a year and found our work together and my time with her exceptionally valuable. I was referred to her by a friend I trust when I was in transition from a long-term management career to my next life chapter. I wanted to leave the organization in the best place, and move through the process of departing with grace and appreciation. I wished for the best support and coaching I could find; Stephanie has certainly been that for me, and her work exceeded my expectations. Her knowledge, expertise and compassion helped me honor the past and ready myself to be open to the future. She also worked with my daughter, who is in her twenties, for almost a year when she was also in the midst of change. We both found our experience with Stephanie very useful. Knowing I can turn to her again is a source of comfort for me.” -HE

“Working closely with Dr. C over the last 4-5 years has been an incredibly rewarding experience. She's been very responsive to understanding where I started, helping me to set goals and guide me along the way to personal understanding. I could not have evolved my understanding without her thoughtful insights and guidance. I also now have a stronger set of tools to be able to adapt to future situations. Thank you for applying your incredible skill in my situation.” -MS

“Steph rocks; patient, agreeable and very smart.  It felt like speaking to a friend.  She is very in-tuned with herself and her environment and can help you achieve the same.  If you need concrete methods to live in the moment and cure social anxiety, she's your girl.  Bonus points: great location downtown close to union square.” – AD

“Steph is a wonderful personal and business coach, psychologist. She is an incredibly strong and empathetic person. I booked 9 sessions with her to work on a more mindful approach to life, relationships, and business advice. The sessions with her were fabulous. Steph listens without judgment, ask very smart questions, which help look at the problem from a different angle, gives recommendations, and homework. She helps understand yourself/others/situation better.  She puts 100% into the sessions and is always prepared, remembers all we discussed and follows up.  I was very impressed with all of her business and personal coaching.  I run a law practice and needed Steph's help to balance relations, hire right people, balance life in general. I asked Steph questions ranging from "how to hire the right employee" to "how to understand other's motivations better". She does not tell you the answer. She gives you a system to find the answer, which you can apply to life situations and use it when in doubt. Very impressive.  Steph is an awesome coach and I would highly recommend her services.”   -NM
